Care for your underwear!!!

Lingerie is made up of fragile components and delicate fabrics so caring for it properly is very important (especially if you are a gel bra wearer). Caring for your smalls will mean that they will not wear out as quickly and in the long term will save you money. It will also reduce the chance of your lingerie becoming damaged. So here are a few hints and tips on how to best take care of your undies.

I would recommend that you always hand wash your bras. Washing machines wash quite vigorously and will not only weaken stitching but also wear fabric. Wash using a gentle, chlorine free, washing detergent preferably one specifically meant for lingerie because they tend to be less damaging. Hand washing will make your bras last that bit longer.

When you buy moulded or gel/liquid filled bras store them individually, perhaps in small boxes, to prevent the cups getting dented or distorted. Denting can ruin a garment completely if severe. If you really want to go 'all out' with protecting your lingerie then wrapping them in tissue paper or fabric can stop them snagging or fading. It depends how much you love that bra!!

If any creases or dents appear then you can try the steaming method. Using a hand held steamer or carefully holding over the top of a boiling kettle will make the bra cups more malleable enabling you to tease out any minor creases or dents. It could save your much loved bra.

Dry your underwear naturally! It is better not to expose your delicate's to direct heat which can damage fabrics and fade colours, so putting them on the radiator or in the tumble dryer is not a good idea. Use the trusty washing line or clothes horse.

I know it all seems like quite hard work but it will be worth it Ladies, I promise.

What a load of pants!

Recently I discovered that women are now buying more bra's than briefs with a ratio of 1.5 to 1. I have always been a matching set person so for every bra I have a matching brief and then occasionally for Christmas I get the wonderful Bridget Jones multi pack which ultimately leads to me having more briefs than bra's. It seems logical to me to have more pants because our briefs need to be washed after every wear but not necessarily our bra's. Fit is everything!

Hello Ladies!

Many experts have estimated a massive 80% of women are still wearing the wrong bra size which is unbelievable considering this garment is such an essential part of our daily wardrobes. I studied lingerie for three years at university (Contour Fashion at De Montfort University) which made me realise that it is actually quite easy for us to get it wrong. It also taught me the importance of a great fitting bra. The fit of your bra is very personal so it may mean that although you are a 34B in one style of bra, this may not be the case with another style. For example I have to wear a different bra size depending on whether it is a plunge style or balconette. The fit also varies between brands so make sure you look out for this and find a brand that suits you.

The bra fitting process is very in depth (believe it or not!) and it does take a lot of time and effort but this shouldn't be an excuse though ladies as I have also learnt, wearing the incorrect bra size can cause tissue damage. Some experts have even claimed that wearing a badly fitting bra can irritate the breast tissue and glands which may lead to Breast cancer in some cases. So you can see why it is so important to get it right.

Gel Bras really make a difference!!!!!

I have been wearing gel bras since I was 16 and now I would never go back!!!!!

I am a curvy size 12-14 but unfortunately thanks to genetics I never developed full breasts and although I have a voluptuous lower half my barely B cups never seemed to quite fit. I always felt completely out of proportion. I realised quite early on in my teens that I was never destined to be large busted and as I watched my friends and school-mates develop from girls into women I always felt inadequate. To add insult to injury one of my closest friends had a whopping 36G and when we were out partying, the men would just be in ore at her magnificent decolletage whereas I would just fade quietly into the background.

As I was approaching my late teens the media was really focusing on larger busted women. With the launch of 'Bravissimo' and other brands coming into the limelight such as Freya, all I appeared to see in magazines were ‘big is beautiful’ adverts and the spot light was on how the nations ladies are getting bigger busts. ‘Well how nice for them’ was my attitude! It was not all larger busted women in the press admitedly but those who had smaller busts were always a willowy size 8, unlike me. My confidence was hit hard and thoughts of breast enlargement surgery kept filling my mind. I really didn’t want to go through painful surgery to achieve the look that I wanted but it seemed to be one of the only options.

Thankfully when I was 16 I discovered Panache Atlantis gel bras and at the time they were very hard to come across and only came in a basic style in either black or white, so even then I couldn't wear pretty strapless tops or low back anything without my bra being glaringly obvious. I adored this bra and I wore it as much as I could. But I did worry about what would happen if the product was taken off the market.

There is definitely a focus in the market at the moment for being 'Green' with supermarket giant Sainsbury no longer promoting using plastic bags, taking them away from the checkouts and further encouraging their customers to re-use. I think that it is very important that we think about the environment in this respect and making sure that we recycle, re-use and use more biodegradable materials will make a difference! At MaxCleavage we have always been conscious of this and all of our packaging is biodegradable. You may not have noticed but we send our beautiful lingerie to you in cardboard boxes and the garments are wrapped in a pretty pink, recycled tissue paper. Top Tips on Boosting that Bust

If you are one of the many girls (like myself) who have not been blessed with having a large bust then we have plenty of bust boosting tips to help you achieve the cleavage you have always wanted.

Buying a gel bra is probably one of the best ways to boost that bust with a huge selection of styles and shapes there are plenty to choose from to suit you body shape. If you have searched and searched for the right gel bra and you just don't seem to be having any luck finding what you are looking for I recommend our extensive range of silicone enhancers. Just simply purchase that bra you have been dreaming about for months in a larger cup size than you normally wear and insert your silicone friends. These silicone enhancers are really comfortable and if you are wearing a good bra have little to no chance of being noticed or falling out. Another great tip for enhancing that bust is to buy a super plunge style bra. If you are not necessarily looking for the in and up cleavage and are looking for what I call the bubble boob effect where the breasts are lifted but not squeezed together then the best way to achieve this is to buy a great fitting multiway or strapless bra with foam padding or gel fills. I recommend the After Eden Double gel strapless, the atlantis strapless or the Ultimo Miracle multiway. Then shorten the straps slightly more than usual to give that extra lift. The trick with this is to make sure that the under band of the bra is sturdy and will not slip up the back or even worse the front. Make sure you are wearing the correct size bra by referring to our fitting guide.

The alternative is to wear your wonderful new multiway bra as a halterneck as this not only lifts the breasts but also gives the appearance of an enhanced bust. Give it a go girls!!!

If you really want to go for the most extreme bust boost then I would recommend buying a good fitting gel bra in 1 cup size larger and adding silicone enhancers into this. I know it seems quite extreme girls but if you really want that bust to be potentialised to the max then this is the way to achieve it.

Alternatively you can purchase our Maxultra silicone enhancers which are for the serious enhancer wearer. They are specially made to measure and can increase the bust by up to 2 and half cup sizes. I have tried these and believe me my breasts entered the room before the rest of me did.
